The hostel enjoys large accommodation rooms, roomy corridors and a heritage staircase of a by-gone era as it was built as a hotel in 1894. Set over 4 levels, the top 3 floors accommodate a variety of dormitories and private rooms with each level having communal ladies and men’s shower blocks and separate toilets. All accommodation rooms are provided with bed linen, lockers and reading lights.
The ground floor houses a communal kitchen and dining area, tv room, our reception and licensed café & bar. The building offers secure card access.
Rooms
4 Bed Mixed Dorm
Our 4 bed dorms consist of two bunks. Each of our rooms have a double hung window and lockers. Each bunk is made up by our housekeepers with a mattress protector and sheet. You collect your top sheet and pillow from reception when you check in. Blankets are also available from reception for no extra charge.
Our 4 bed dorms are spacious as our hostel was originally built in 1892 as a hotel and each room is large compared to many modern built hostels. Some of our rooms still have the original fire place and mantel in the room.
6 Bed Female Dorm
Our 6 bed female dorms have 3 bunk beds. Each room has a swipe key card or uses keys therefore you are safe and secure. The dorm has a locker for each guest and a window with venetian blind for privacy.
Female toilets and female showers are located on each floor. Our toilets are enclosed cubicles and our showers are for females only.
6 Bed Mixed Dorm
Our 6 bed mixed dorm consists of 3 bunk beds in a generous sized room. Each room has a locker for each guest.
These dorm rooms are very popular as they are not as crowded as an 8 bed dorm but obviously not as expensive a 4 bed dorm.
8 Bed Mixed Dorm
8 bed dorms consist of 4 bunks in our very large dorm rooms. Each 8 bed dorm has a window which can be opened to let in plenty of fresh air. Our dorms have lockers for each guest. So if you want to lower the cost of your travel and are social - this style of room is for you.
Double Bed in 4 bed dorm
If there are two of you and you would prefer a double bed but do not want the expense of a private room - try our double bed in a 4 bed dorm. This consists of a double bed located on the bottom bunk of a tribunk, located in a 4 bed dorm. So there will be the two of you, plus another 3 guests in the room. Please note our double bed does not have privacy curtains around the bunk. Our 4 bed dorm is spacious, has a locker for each guests and a reading light.
Double or Twin Room
Our double or twin bed room consists of a private room containing a tribunk. A tribunk has a double bed mattress on the bottom of the bunk and a single mattress on the top bunk. The room may be used by a couple or used as a twin room. The room also contains lockers. Bathroom facilities, toilet and showers, are shared and are located at the end of the corridor.
All our private rooms are located on the 3rd floor on the Crown Street side of the building. It is very quiet and the floor has lift access.

Disabled Guests
We welcome disabled guests.
Our hostel is serviced by a large lift that can easily accommodate a mechanised or hand pushed wheel chair.
The disabled bathroom is located on the ground floor and we are happy to provide exclusive use of this room during your stay.
The hostel was constructed in 1894 so it has very wide corridors and doors that would make your movement comfortable.
If we can assist you in any other way, please do not hesitate to advise reception and we will do everything possible to assist your stay ie prioritising you the bottom bunk etc.
