The Tilbury Hotel may be set back from the famous Woolloomooloo Wharf but their downstairs restaurant keeps up with its neighbours. Meet up with friends before lunch or dinner in their upstairs bar with long, raw wooden boards and large umbrellas to shade you during the day. At night the bar takes on a lot of atmosphere with great lighting and is a perfect choice for private parties 30 people or more.
Attracting the successful and good looking youth of Sydney who find it a bit of a stretch to frequent Woolloomooloo Wharf's pricier venues, The Tilbury Hotel has got it made. Placed in the centre of the hotel's hub of bars and courtyards, the restaurant lures hungry guests into its comfortable surrounds. The dining room is dressed in neutral tones but is brightened up with the colourful people and their glasses of wine; rose at lunch, crisp whites in the dying light and deep reds when the lights are dimmed. The wine list here is quite extensive with about 100 on the menu and 150 on the reserved list.
The interior boasts a warm and comfortable environment with varnished wooden floors, long leather banquettes and cosy fireplaces, along with a generous sized outdoor deck and a tranquil courtyard.
The dining room is situated downstairs with a view out to the courtyard. Chef, James Walllis has created a contemporary Australian menu with British influences; it is driven largely by the extensive fresh produce available seasonally.
The upstairs level holds a lounge bar decked out with contemporary leather furniture, wooden floors and soft lighting, and the attaching deck provides guests with a choice of areas to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
