Barbican House is a restored Victorian Villa in the Centre of York, the house was converted into a Guest House in around 1982. All original features of the House have been kept. We have recently updated our bathrooms using showers with a low step, non of our bathrooms have any additional features especially for the disabled due to the size/layout of the bathrooms.

Pre-Arrival

We have a bus stop around 150 meters away, the train station is a 10 minute taxi ride away, we can make your return booking to the train station for you.

• We have internet access for Guest use via a WiFi connection

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• We have a small lit car park for 6 to 7 cars, the car park is concrete. We can assist guests with luggage. York City centre is a 850 metre or 15 minute walk away

Main Entrance & Reception

• We have three steps into our main entrance, the hallway is narrow with a minimum width of 68cm in places with little room for a wheel chair. The front door is always locked.

Public Areas - General (Internal)

• Barbican House has 7 bedrooms, one on the ground floor, three rooms on the first floor and three rooms on the second floor, all floors have thick pile carpet.
• All floors are reached via stairs, the steps are 18cm high, 26cm deep and 78cm wide.

Public Areas - WC

• We do not have a public WC, all bathroom provisions are within the guest bedrooms.

Restaurant/Dining Room

• We have a dinning room for 14 people, this has restricted space for the less mobile. Breakfast is served in the breakfast room on the ground floor. There are no steps
• Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request but breakfast may have to be taken outside of normal hours if furniture needs to be moved.

Bedrooms

• We do not have any bedrooms suitable for wheelchair access, all TV's have teletext

Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [En suite or Shared]

• All bedrooms are en-suite with showers, most showers have a minimum step into of 15cm. Doors to bedrooms are 75cm wide, 66cm into bathrooms.

Grounds and Gardens

• We have a small enclosed garden for residents which is available to sit in (bench available). This is slightly uneven with stone flagstones.
