The nearest railway station is Penrith, which is 22 miles away. Buses (Stagecoach X4 & X5) can take you to Booths, Keswick and, possibly after a change of bus onto to Ravenstone Lodge.
The nearest bus stop is at the end of our drive, just ask the driver for the stop at Ravenstone Lodge. Local buses can accommodate a wheelchair but please Stagecoach for further information. Alternatively taxis are available at Penrith Station; for the best taxi rates and the availability of accessible taxis please contact us for further help.
Please be aware that the driveway from the main road down to the hotel entrance is not paved and is on a quite a steep slope.

Car Parking and Arrival
There is a space for a car to stop just outside the hotel door for an easy access, and can be reached approximately 5 metres from the front door; there is a brick surface next to the entrance with a gravel path, this area is lit at night until around midnight.
There are 2 steps to the front door; the front door is 750mm/29.5ins wide. There is another entrance to the side with a double door although the approach is totally on gravel.
Assistance can be given with any luggage.
Welcome Area
Guests are welcomed and can register in the conservatory, which is level throughout. Seating is available with arm chairs and sofas. The flooring is tiles, and the area is well lit with wall lights.
Guests are given a guided tour of the public areas on arrival including the conservatory, Coach House Restaurant & Stable Bar Bistro and are then shown to their bedroom.
Bedrooms
There are 2 bedrooms on the ground floor, which are one step up from the front door level; both are double rooms but only one would be suitable for a wheelchair. The door to the ground floor bedrooms wing is 750mm/29.5ins wide, On the first floor is reached by stairs only (approximately 10 stairs). There are 7 rooms in this part of the property with a double, king or super king beds; one room (Room 6, Ullock Pike) has a “zip-and-lnik” bed and can therefore be configured either as a twin or a double.Furniture can be easily removed or rearranged in rooms upon request. Rooms are bright and evenly lit. Bedside lamps are provided in all bedrooms with additional reading lamps is available on request.
All of our bedrooms offer lighting as described above, short pile carpet, a widescreen digital TV with remote control, subtitles, and audio description facilities and en-suite bathrooms.
The en-suite bathrooms for the ground floor bedrooms have:- door opening to the bathroom is 800mm/31.5ins; a level entry, bath with a shower above; toilet height is 400mm/15.7ins; wash basin height is around 1 meter; removable Grab rails for the shower & anti slip mats available on request
The bathrooms are well lit with overhead lights and a fluorescent light over mirror. There are 5 bedrooms with shower cubicals and one bedroom with a wet room shower. All these rooms are on the second floor.
Public areas, halls, stairs, landing, are lit using a combination of ceiling and wall lights, please be aware that not all areas are lit with ceiling lights. There is short pile carpet on the stairs, hall and landing. There is a continuous flight of ten steps to the first floor with a handrail on one side.
Public Areas – Conservatory & Bar
The conservatory is situated on the ground floor with step free/level entry from the front door and stairs. The room has a mixture of seating with sofas and soft chairs as well as some high chairs with and without arms, together with a low coffee table. Lighting is natural daylight with table lamps and wall lighting at night. The flooring is ceramic tiles.
Widescreen digital television with remote control and subtitle facility is available in the bar. Bar area is carpeted and is level with the hotel entry, the conservatory and the restaurant.
Public Toilet
There is a small unisex toilet, with one hand basin, the toilet is located just near the conservatory on the way to the ground floor rooms; there is one step up and one step down leading to the toilet. Toilet size from the hand basin to the opposite wall is 60cm, the toilet door width is 700mm, the toilet height is 400mm/15.7ins. The toilet is well lit with a single overhead light.
The Restaurant
The restaurant is situated on the ground floor with step free/level entry from the front door and stairs. The door opening to the dining room is 750mm/29.5ins wide and it is level throughout. Lighting is natural daylight and light levels are controlled by dimmer switches, with recessed LED overhead lights; the flooring is short pile carpet. Table height is 720mm.
Breakfast is served but you can help yourself to fruit juices cereals, fruit, croissant & bread from the buffet.Crockery is colour contrasted with the table where possible. We are able to cater for varying dietary requirements. Please advise us when making a booking.
Garden
There is a paved patio area which can be accessed from the lounge by two steps and about 5 meters of gravel path. Tables and chairs are available on the patio.
Additional Information
We have evacuation procedures which can be tailored for individual needs and should additional assistance be required in the event of an evacuation a member of staff will come to your room and assist you.
A water & food bowl is available for assistance dogs and can be supplied for bedrooms where necessary.
The nearest General Hospital with an A&E unit and walk in NHS is 5 miles away in Keswick. Please let us know if you require further information. Free Wi-Fi Internet access is available. Due to the hotel’s granite walls not all rooms have a good Wi-Fi reception; please contact us prior to your arrival for more information.
