Welcome to Netherstowe House, a stylish boutique hotel in the Cathedral City of Lichfield. Well-known for its charm and attentive personal service, our hotel in Staffordshire offers an irresistible blend of modern comforts and classic Georgian style.
Come, step into our world for a moment, it’s our pleasure to show you around our individually designed hotel rooms and luxury serviced apartments. They have all the modern amenities you’ll need – including free WiFi and complimentary breakfast. Following the recent addition of seven new petite bedrooms in the newly-refurbished Yew Tree Lodge, we now have sixteen bedrooms and eight serviced apartments for you to choose from.
Dining at Netherstowe House accounts for every taste and occasion. From our rustic Cheese and Wine cellar to our famous afternoon teas (an exquisite journey back in time), it’s all here. Room service and breakfast in bed come highly recommended, as do our serviced apartments – complete with a kitchen all of their own.
Accessibility
Originally built in 1180, Netherstowe House is a Grade II listed property. This does mean that we have some physical access limitations that are inherent with a building of its age and protected status. However, we are incredibly accommodating and, as we have extended our complex, we have sought to improve the access and facilities.
We welcome assistance dogs; we have a WC on the ground floor and can provide wheelchair ramps. However, much more importantly, our team are incredibly attentive: they genuinely care. Please let our hospitality team know if you have any individual needs, they will be pleased to suggest how we can assist.
Arrival
We have a long driveway with a drop off point next to the front entrance for guests with reduced mobility. The entrance is currently gravelled, which is not perfect, but it is very well compacted and adequate for the very short distance of less than a metre from the car to the doorway. We offer a porterage service for luggage and will greet you at the front door or at your car. Please leave luggage in your car on arrival so that we may bring this to your room. We have one very shallow step up to the front door, for which we have a portable ramp.
Public Areas
The main public areas within the hotel are on the ground floor, including the restaurant, lounge, bar and cloakroom. All are on one level and are accessible for wheelchair users.
Dining
Please let us know if you’d find it easier to read a large print menu. Allergies and specific food tolerances are catered for. However, whilst we will do all we can to accommodate guests with food intolerances and allergies, we are unable to guarantee that dishes will be completely allergen-free. We are very happy to change the menu for guests or to offer specifically requested dishes; our menu is guest-led, not chef-led! Equally, our chefs are extremely happy to discuss any specific requirements. If you are at all concerned, you may like to contact our hospitality team before hand.
Access from Public Areas to the Bedrooms and Courtyard Apartments
Unfortunately, due to the constraints and Grade II status of the original building, we do not have a lift. The bedrooms in the main house are all on the first and second floor. Consequently, internal access between the public areas and bedrooms is via stairs, all of which have railings. Some of these bedrooms are located next to the stairs leading to the public areas and, whilst there may be one flight of stairs to negotiate, the actual distance from these bedrooms to the public rooms is no more than 15 metres. The bedrooms are not suitable for wheelchair users, but are suitable for people with some reduced mobility, perhaps with walking sticks or crutches. Please note that the Darwin room, Seward room and Addison room are all located on the second floor reached via two flights of stairs. Please ask which rooms would be most suitable on booking.
Our Courtyard Apartments are located in a separate wing to the main hotel approximately 30 meters from the hotel entrance. Four of the Courtyard Apartments are located on the ground floor. They each have lounge areas and direct access through patio doors to the gardens and car park, all of which are on the same level. Use of stairs can be minimised with access needed only for the restaurant via the shallow step up to the front door, for which we have a portable ramp. Please note wheelchairs would need to run over a short gravelled area between the Courtyard Apartments and the hotel.
