The Atrium and Brasserie Restaurant University College Birmingham, Summer Row, Birmingham B3 1JB, UK

Lunchtime modern European dishes and international fine-dining menu in contemporary surroundings.

University College Birmingham has two award-winning restaurants, the Atrium and the Brasserie, which are run by our students under the guidance of senior chef lecturers and food service experts.

The restaurants are open to the public for lunch and dinner, from Tuesday to Friday and on some Mondays, during term times. They offer outstanding value for money for high levels of cooking, service, creative flair and top quality, seasonal produce.

The Atrium and the Brasserie enjoy strong reputations and have been Highly Commended by the AA.

Students on our chef, food service and hospitality programmes train in the restaurants as part of their courses and develop invaluable hands-on experience. We value our customers’ feedback as it helps students to build their skills and knowledge and improves their confidence.

The Atrium

The Atrium offers a superb fine dining experience in a modern, contemporary setting that ranks alongside top restaurants in Birmingham, a city blessed with a vibrant food culture.

The restaurant is perfect for a special occasion celebration but also attracts a loyal following of regular customers who are drawn by the exceptional cooking and ambiance. For this reason, we advise diners to make early reservations to avoid disappointment.

A typical menu might include delicious fish and shellfish, premium beef, lamb, poultry or game, and imaginative vegetarian dishes. The Atrium draws on a dedicated pastry section where young chefs are tasked with producing an array of elegant desserts and outstanding baking.

The Atrium’s cooking is informed by lighter, modern interpretations of classic culinary techniques, ensuring the students have a comprehensive grasp of traditional styles combined with an up-to-date, “on trend” sensibility.

The Brasserie

The Brasserie, which is next to the Atrium, offers a great informal setting for a relaxed lunch with friends and colleagues. The menu changes regularly to provide customers with an exciting range of modern British and European dishes.

Like the Atrium, the Brasserie uses top quality produce and is renowned for its outstanding value – three courses with coffee is just £13.95.

We are happy to accommodate our customers’ needs so if time is pressing and you fancy a quick bite, an Express Dish of the Day is available in the comfortable bar.

There is a comprehensive wine list with premium drinks offered at exceptional prices. Food service students get to learn about different styles and varieties of grape while diners enjoy a superb choice of Old and New World wines and unbeatable value. Different cocktail specials are often available too.

The Brasserie also hosts theme nights throughout the academic year. Staged by the University’s hospitality degree students, the evenings offer great food and entertainment, often with music.
