Verulamium was the third largest city of Roman Britain and the museum, stands on the site of the Roman town. Families are always welcome at our museum. Inside you will find:
Opening hours
Monday to Saturday: 10am to 5.30pm (last admission at 5pm)
Sunday: 2pm to 5.30pm (last admission at 5pm)
During Bank Holidays we are usually open normal hours.
Admission to Verulamium Museum
Adults - £5.00 Children (under 16s) - £2.50 Under 5s - Free Family Ticket (2 adults + 2 children) - £12
Senior Citizens (60+) and concessions inc. students (with proof of status) - £3.50
Groups of over 15 people - £2.50 each
Residents of St Albans District (with proof of residency) - Free | Friends of St Albans Museums - Free | Carers - Free
Assistance dogs / guide dogs are welcome, but no other dogs.
Parking
Please note: at weekends or on sunny days, the car park can get busy. There is a pay and display NCP car park right in front of the museum which has 150 spaces, including 7 disabled bays and 2 coach spaces and is open 24 hours.
Accessibility
Verulamium Museum is wheelchair-accessible - the entrance, shop and galleries are all on one level and there is a lift to reach the accessible WC in the basement. There is a sloped path from the NCP car park to the entrance, the glass doors are quite heavy to open but staff can assist. We do not have an audioguide available but can offer sessions for specific groups subject to availability by prior arrangement - please enquire. (We are currently putting together a more detailed Practical Guide and Visual Story for visitors which will be available online soon - do let us know if you'd like a copy in advance.)
