The Bank of England Museum is located within the Bank of England in the City of London. Its entrance is in Bartholomew Lane, off Threadneedle Street, close to Bank junction and Bank tube station.
The museum is open Monday-Friday 10am-5pm, last entry 4.30pm (22 and 29 December 10am-1pm) and is free to visit.
The Bank of England Museum has a unique selection of displays and exhibits, covering our role in maintaining monetary and financial stability through to our banknote gallery and gold vaults. Discover the history of the Bank, its buildings, and the people who have shaped it over more than 300 years.
As the Bank of England is a working institution, it is not open to the public. Instead, visit our museum to find out about the Bank’s fascinating history and the important role it plays in the economy today.
Most people take about an hour to look around the museum.
Entry to the museum is free. This includes entry to our events and exhibitions.
We don’t provide tours of the museum, but you can collect leaflets to help you get the most from your visit. We also have activity sheets for younger visitors. Presentations are available for pre-booked groups . Our staff are always available to answer your questions.
Due to our small size, we don’t have a café or restaurant.
Our facilities include:
