The South Yorkshire Transport Museum, formerly the Sheffield Bus Museum, is a museum which documents the history of transport in South Yorkshire and surrounding areas. The museum is located in the village of Aldwarke, part of Rotherham.
In addition to the vehicles the museum features a varied selection of displays of transport related artefacts and objects.
Vehicles
The Museum is currently home to around 50 vehicles including cars, buses and a tramcar body.
Some of these vehicles are owned by the museum and some are privately owned.
All of these vehicles are at different stages of restoration, some fully restored to their former glory.
Access & Facilities
Accessibility
A ramp is availble to access the museum via the main entrance.
Both of our display halls are accessible to wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
A wheelchair accessible toilet is available in our main display hall close to the entrance and cafe.
Assistance Dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome in all areas of the museum.
Free Car Park
The museum has its own free car park including marked disabled spaces close to the entrance.
On certain open days car parking is also provided in neighbouring car parks.
Refreshments
Our cafe has seating for around 30 visitors and serves hot & cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks.
Shop
Our main reception also houses our shop stocking items of transport nature such as books, models and photographs. Additionally there are also many low priced items such as key rings, badges and pocket money priced items for younger visitors.
