The Regent Street Cinema is a historic repertory cinema located on Regent Street, London. Opened in 1848 and regarded as "the birthplace of British cinema", the cinema featured the first motion picture shown in the United Kingdom.

The Regent Street Cinema, just 1 minute north of Oxford Circus, was re-opened by the University of Westminster in May 2015, reinstating one of the most historic cinemas in Britain to its former grandeur.

We are the Regent Street Cinema, a uniquely historic cinema, dedicated to both engaging with our legacy and ensuring it for future audiences and filmmakers.

The cinema is one of the few in the country to show 16mm and 35mm film, as well as the latest in 4K digital film. It offers exclusive premieres, repertory screenings, retrospectives, documentaries, animation and experimental cinema. You can also experience double bills, showcasing the best of home-grown British talent, world cinema and classic movies in a classic environment.

Good parking facility for all visitors. Cinema Owned and restored by the University of Westminster this iconic cinema is a wonderful venue. This is the UK’s first cinema dating back to the 1800’s. Comfortable seating gives a clear view of the screen from all seats. There are designated spaces for wheelchair users in the front side. Also discount on tickets for disabled patrons. Lift available and accessible toilets are available for disabled with clean. No issue. Overall great show.
