The main facilities are open all year round and include a visitor centre with shop, café, theatre and activity area. There are two play areas, bbq sites, picnic areas and 20 miles of trail for walking, cycling and horse riding. Maps are available to purchase from the Visitor Centre shop.

Queen Elizabeth Country Park is Hampshire’s biggest park set within 2,000 acres of open access woodland and downland within the South Downs National Park. The area also includes the Butser Hill National Nature Reserve and the views from the top are stunning.

There are plenty of things to do at Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

From gentle pursuits such as walking, taking in the view, and relaxing with a cup of tea from the cafeteria, to striding out along the long distance footpaths, testing your skills in the saddle, and getting off the beaten track to explore nature and history.

Opening Hours

The park is open every day. 

Main parking area open 24/7.

Forest and Butser car parks

  • 8am to 8pm March to October
  • 8am to 6pm November to February

Entry to the park is free.

Parking charges

  • Up to 16 seats - £1.80 per hour / £3.50 per day
  • 16+ seats - £12.50 per day

Dog walking

Dogs are welcome in the country park. 

Stock sometimes graze Butser Hill - follow site signage.

Accessibility

Queen Elizabeth Country Park is partially accessible for users of wheelchairs users and prams. 

The area around the visitor centre is flat but other areas of the site are hilly with some steep gradients. People with mobility issues will need to drive or be driven to the top areas such as Butser Hill and some of the BBQ sites.

There is an accessible toilet near Juniper BBQ site.

The visitor centre shop/café is accessible.

There is also an accessible toilet adjacent to the visitor centre.

A mobility scooter can be borrowed from the visitor centre. Booking is essential.

    Affordable parking on arrival. Seems a great place for families. A few options for wheelchair users or info on routes would be helpful. People with mobility issues will need to drive or be driven to the top areas such as Butser Hill and some of the BBQ sites. There is an accessible toilet near the BBQ site for disabled and also there is also an accessible toilet adjacent to the visitor centre. A mobility scooter can be borrowed from the visitor centre on prior booking.
