It's only fitting that Sydney's most iconic structure is also home to its most iconic restaurant. Bennelong at the Sydney Opera House has re-opened its doors following a multi-million dollar makeover and its 99-seat dining room is more spectacular than ever. The exposed ribs of the building are still on display and the harbour outlook continues to make diners' views picture-perfect. What's new is celebrated Chef Peter Gilmore's menu, which is simpler, more produce-driven and relaxed. The kitchen offers a number of flexible dining options including a three-course a la carte meal that can be enjoyed in the main restaurant or in a semi-private 10-seater dining space called The Table. Request a table on the central and upper tiers of the restaurant to enjoy the "Cured & Cultured" menu; a beautifully curated array of raw and simple produce like oysters, cured meats, crustaceans and organic vegetable salads. Just like the Opera House, Bennelong's classic approach to hospitality keeps it contemporary and the restaurant remains one of the country's greatest dining experiences.
This magnificent space offers first class food and wine in one of Australia’s most iconic locations. Perfect for celebrating, whether it’s meal either side of a performance at The Sydney Opera House, entertaining clients or simply enjoying an evening with good friends.
THE RESTAURANT
The lower level of Bennelong is known as The Restaurant. The Restaurant presents Australian cuisine imagined by Peter Gilmore. Diners can choose from a two or three course à la carte menu for lunch on Friday through to Sunday, or a three course à la carte menu for dinner Monday through to Sunday.
PRE-THEATRE MENU
There are two pre-theatre dining options available for guests attending a show at The Sydney Opera House. We offer a special two or three course, pre-theatre menu seven nights a week at 5:30pm or 6:00pm in The Restaurant. Lighter pre- and post theatre options are available from Cured & Cultured in a separate seating space called The Circle, and also at the Bar.
CURED & CULTURED
Cured & Cultured offers a relaxed, accessible dining experience that is ideal for a casual bite to eat and a glass of Australian wine with friends. The menu is driven by raw, cured and cultured produce. Those opting for this dining experience may choose to sit at The Cured & Cultured counter with a view of the chefs at work on the central level, or join the casual-seating area in The Circle on the upper level of Bennelong near The Bar. Diners are able to order from The Restaurant’s dessert menu.
THE BAR
The Bar offers an ideal place for guests to meet before or after a show, or perhaps for a quick bite of supper. Diners are able to order from The Cured & Cultured menu and The Restaurant’s dessert menu. In keeping with the philosophy of Bennelong, the cocktail list focuses on highlighting local Australian ingredients. Chef Peter Gilmore has collaborated with our bar manager, Aaron Gaulke in creating a lyrical list of encore evoking cocktails.
THE TABLE
The Dining Room Table’s semi-private location offers the perfect spot for an intimate dinner for six to twelve people without distancing diners from the buzz of The Restaurant. The Restaurant dinner menus will be offered, however there is flexibility to tailor to specific needs. The Table is situated on the central level of Bennelong.
THE KITCHEN
The Kitchen Table offers diners one of six exclusive seats inside Bennelong’s lively kitchen providing not only a rare opportunity to witness the chefs behind the scenes but a most spectacular perspective of Sydney Harbour. A 10-course chef’s tasting menu will be unique to each evening and matched with superior wines. The Kitchen promises one of Australia’s most exclusive dining experiences.
