Iconic Italian diner, Machiavelli, has set up a sister restaurant in Rushcutters Bay. Reviving the historical tyre factory site on Neild Avenue, Bar Machiavelli is a modern Italian bar and diner, featuring a metallic gold-clad bar, exposed brick and a dramatic high ceiling. Expect an ever-changing selection of antipasti and homemade pastas, including Machiavelli’s signature dish of spaghetti with prawns, made on site in a custom glass pasta room. Seating up to 160 drinkers and diners, the warehouse chic location is an obvious choice for large-scale functions.
Bar Machiavelli is open from 6pm till late, Monday to Thursday and from 5pm till late on Friday and Saturday. Housed in the historic former tyre factory at 10 Neild Avenue, Bar Machiavelli is our younger expression of the Italian cuisine we are famous for, sourcing the best local and imported produce and prepared under the skilful guidance of Paola Toppi and Giovanna Toppi.
Bar Machiavelli will be offering a rotating selection of antipasti and our signature, house made pasta. We employ traditional Italian techniques to create pasta with a silky texture that feels light to the mouth. Our signature pastas include spaghetti with king prawns, mushroom, garlic, chilli and basil, pappardelle with white bolognaise and cherry tomatoes,or baby gnocchi with sweetened blue cheese.
Bar Machiavelli’s beverages complement our strong Italian focus, with the selection of wine expressing the contrasting regionality of Italian viniculture. The cocktail list is built on Italian classics with a Mediterranean twist and includes barrel-aged Negroni made with grappa, our signature Bellini and Tiramsiu Martini.
Bar Machiavelli takes bookings for all parties of any size. Please call or check on bookings page for availability.

First time trying the famous Bar Mach! The entrance is very grand, the space is dimly lit with a rotation of images projected from roof to floor on the side of the building. Unfortunately this was the peak of the experience. The entrees were very lack luster in taste and portion size was very small. The pasta mains were hit and miss with the Lamb Ragu tough with limited amount of meat. However, I must commend the Gnocchetti with scampi as those little pillows tasted like silk. The vibe was a little stale with the music needing a couple of more notches to be noticeable and to enhance the space. The space would be perfect for a lavish event but on this occasion missed the mark.
