The Natural History Museum at Tring was the private museum of Lionel Walter, 2nd Baron Rothschild; today it is under the control of the Natural History Museum.

Accessibility
Entrances
The Museum has three entrances. The main entrance on Akeman Street has eight steps. The Park Street and car park entrances are step-free.
Zebra Café
Enjoy sandwiches, children's lunch boxes, cakes and hot and cold drinks on weekends and school holidays. During the week, hot and cold drinks and snacks are available from vending machines.
You can reach the café from the Akeman Street car park or via the lift. Open 10.00-17.00 Monday to Saturday and 14.00-17.00 on Sundays (last orders taken at 16.45).
There will be some changes to cafe service over the holiday period. Between 27 - 31 Decemeber the cafe will be serving cakes, snacks, children's lunch boxes and hot and cold drinks. From 1 - 2 January hot and cold drinks will be avaliable from vending machines.
Picnic areas
You can eat packed lunches in the indoor and outdoor picnic areas. The indoor picnic area is usually available during opening hours on weekends and 12.00 - 14.00 during school holidays. School groups need to pre-book the indoor area. Some outdoor picnic benches have lift-up seats for wheelchair users.
Toilets
There are two sets of male and female toilets. One set is inside the Museum, next to the shop, and the other is outside the Museum, accessed through Akeman Street car park.
There is also a unisex, accessible toilet on the ground floor of the Museum.
The Akeman Street and unisex toilets have baby changing facilities.
Shop
Find a great range of nature-inspired gifts for all ages, from mineral specimens to soft toys, games, books, posters and greetings cards.
This shop is on the ground floor and is open from 10.00-17.00, Monday to Saturday, and from 14.00-17.00 on Sundays.

Our Explore guide and activity book is available from the Museum shop, full of stories, facts and fun activities to complete during your visit.
Cloakroom
There is a small cloakroom on the ground floor, next to the main entrance and the information desk. Items are left at the owner's risk.
Wheelchairs
You can borrow wheelchairs for free from the cloakrooms just inside the Exhibition Road entrance.
Lifts
All floors in the Blue, Green and Red zones, and the Darwin Centre, are accessible by lift.
Accessible toilets
Wheelchair-accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities are clearly marked on the Museum map and floor plans.
