Milestones Museum of Living History is a museum located on the Leisure Park in Basingstoke, Hampshire, UK. Milestones is made up of a network of streets that have been recreated according to those found in Victorian and 1930s Hampshire.

ENTRY FEES

• Our admission policy admits the carer of a disabled visitor free of charge, while the concessions admission fee applies to the disabled visitor.

WHEELCHAIR USERS AND VISITORS WITH MOBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Milestones has plenty of parking spaces, including allocated accessible parking spaces near the main entrance and space available for coach and minibus parking.
• Toilets and accessible toilets can be found on the entrance level (Level 0 in the lift) and the museum floor level (Level -2 in the lift).
• Our café is fully accessible to wheelchair users.
• There are two lifts available, one either side of the main stairs. The museum arena is on floor –2.
• You can hire wheelchairs or motorised scooters for use during your visit. Please enquire at reception. The hire of these is free but subject to availability and should be booked in advance of your visit.
• The Victorian part of the museum has a predominantly cobbled floor with tramlines. The 1930s area is flat though some areas of the flooring are textured. Both areas have pavements with dropped kerbs.
• Seating is provided around the museum.

DEAF AND HEARING IMPAIRED VISITORS

• An induction loop is fitted in reception.
• One way of giving information to visitors involves using audioguides, hand held devices that give audio commentary on the exhibits. The audioguides have a wide-ranging volume control but if required, we do have headphones that plug into the audioguides to make them easier to hear. For visitors with hearing aids we have a portable induction loop, worn around the neck, to improve access to the audioguides. Both are available on request but subject to availability.
• Written transcripts of the audioguides are also available on request.
• All audiovisual presentations in the museum have subtitles.
• Assistance dogs are welcome in the museum.
