Ipswich Museum is a registered museum of culture, history and natural heritage located on High Street in Ipswich, the County Town of the English county of Suffolk.

This fascinating and unique museum gives you the opportunity to meet the famous woolly mammoth, the elegant towering giraffe and other wonderful curiosities from the natural world.

Admission to Ipswich Museum is free and we welcome all visitors. We want you to enjoy your visit and are very happy to help in any way we can.

A vending machine dispensing hot and cold drinks is available at the main entrance.

Accessibility

  • There is a ramp at the main entrance leading to double doors that can be opened to allow access for wider wheelchairs or scooters.
  • A manual wheelchair is available for use, if required. Please ask at reception.
  • All galleries are accessible via a lift or stairs.
  • All areas of the ground floor are either level or have ramped access.
  • An accessible toilet is located on the ground floor.
  • There are hands-on and sensory experiences at various points throughout the museum.
  • We provide British Sign Language interpretation at selected events.
