A Bus stop (routes 11, 61, 91, 111) is at the end of the causeway.

Access - We regret that Fort Grey is not accessible to wheelchairs or push-chairs. The Fort is entered via a staircase and steep steps which those with restricted mobility or impaired vision might find difficult. There are also steps up to the Shipwreck Museum and within the tower.

The Fort is a Martello Tower built on a small tidal islet to defend Rocquaine Bay. It is connected to the shore by a raised causeway and is now known affectionately as the "Cup and Saucer". It houses a shipwreck museum and offers spectacular views of the bay and the Hanois Lighthouse.

An interpretation Centre, organised by La Societe Guernesiaise and containing information about the natural history of the local area is located inside a magazine just outside the walls of the fort.

This now has a temporary home in the building next to Guernsey Pearl. The main timbers can be seen through a viewing window and a small display explains more about the ship, how it was built and how it came to sink off Guernsey. The ship store is open the same hours as Fort Grey and it is hoped Guernsey Museums will be able to create a full exhibition of the ship in the future.

For many children, the excitement of being 'inside the cup and saucer' will be a memory that will stay with them for a long time. As well as the Museum, here are some things that your little ones might enjoy too:

  • Discovery Sacks available for free loan from the Shop. These are bags filled with objects and activities to help children explore the Tower and the Museum. Objects include a pair of binoculars, a compass with guide, pirate accessories and a magnifying glass
  • Help-yourself trunk of trails, quizzes and spot-it picture boards available inside the Tower
  • Dressing up trunk - be a sailor, octopus or pirate!

Well worth a visit, it looks just like a cup and saucer. The museum is good and well laid out with excellent displays. There is a walkway out to the fort with a lot of steps to entrance. There is no disabled access but for those with some mobility problems the stairs are not too challenging. No accessible parking available at the museum. Toilets and refreshments over the road at Guernsey Pearls. I thought it was a charming museum. Little bit lack of disability but good museum as of general.
