Wheatlands Lodge Hotel is one of the largest family-owned and run hotels in York, having been established for over 35 years.

Set in a prime location, just 5 minutes walk from the railway station, and 10 minutes walk from the centre of historic York and its many attractions, including York Minster, the Jorvik Viking Centre, Cliffords Tower, Castle Museum, and The National Railway Museum, we can offer you a warm Yorkshire welcome and a first class standard of service throughout your stay.

We are also just a 15 minute walk to Knavesmire (York Racecourse), and a 5 minute drive to the A64, which provides easy access to both the East Coast, and to the A1/M1 motorway.

The Hotel

We are proud to be members of 'Welcome to Yorkshire' (formerly the Yorkshire Tourist Board) and 'Visit York', and have been classified as a Two Star hotelby the 'Visit England' organisation. As 2 Star Hotels go, we believe that we are one of the best in town, certainly when it comes to value for money!  

We are constantly improving the hotel - we have now completed a full revamp of all of the stairways, corridors and landings, which have a new colour scheme and new lighting. Also, several more guest bedrooms have been given a full refurbishment, with furniture by Curtis Fine Contract Interiors of Leeds (www.curtisfurniture.co.uk) making it a total of 34 rooms in the new modern style. We will continue with the refurb work when time permits.

All decorating work has been done ourselves, i.e. the owner, managers, chefs etc were all involved in this work, which we take an immense amount of pride in doing. So please, mind the paintwork!!

Our Rooms

We have 60 centrally heated, individually furnished rooms, all of which are en-suite. All rooms are equipped with new digital flat screen TVs, with integrated Freeview channels, clock radio/alarm clocks, towels, hairdryer and complimentary tea and coffee facilities.   

We have 8 single, 24 double, 24 twin and 4 family rooms. One of the family rooms can accommodate up to 5 people,  the other three can accommodate 3 people. (We also have a detached property, ideal for families. See the "Mill Mount" page on this website for more details.) Many rooms can also take travel cots, which we can supply FREE OF CHARGE along with bedding if necessary.

A redecorating program for our bedrooms is ongoing every winter, with an aim to complete at least 10 bedrooms each year. In addition, some rooms are given a complete refurbishment - furniture by Curtis of Leeds, www.curtisinteriors.co.uk. All decorating work is done by ourselves (i.e. owner, managers, chefs etc) but despite us being 'Jacks of all Trades' we think we've done a pretty good job. Please feel to inspect if you visit!  

A number of rooms are at ground floor level. If you would prefer a ground floor room, please specify this when making your reservation. We do not have a lift!

Note: ALL BEDROOMS are non-smoking, as well as all other internal areas of the hotel.
