A right royal welcome awaits you at The Dairy and The Byre, recently converted, luxury 18th Century barns adjoining the owners house. The accommodation is on the ground floor with only shallow steps to the front doors.

Surrounded by an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) in an elevated position halfway between Ludlow and Church Stretton and 1 mile from Craven Arms they are very cosy, with underfloor heating and lpg fires.

The self catering holiday cottages, each with one double bedroom/ensuite shower room, are south facing on a level site with a large parking area and secure garden. Under a mellow Welsh slate roof they have waney edged timber in the local style, exposed stone walls, vaulted ceilings with many original oak beams, oak kitchen units, slate floors in the living areas and carpeted bedrooms.

Separate patios with Coalbrookdale furniture overlook the cottage garden and the surrounding countryside.

The Byre (sleeps 2 + cot + child's bed) looks out over the whole twenty mile length of Wenlock Edge from the Corvedale nearly to Ironbridge with a splendid view of Sir Benjamin Flounders folly once owned by the actress Julie Christie and recently fully restored.

The Dairy (sleeps 2 + cot) has views over the former farmyard and beyond over Stokesay to Whitcliffe and the Mortimer Forest.

Accessibility

Highgrove Barns consists of two self-catering cottages which are situated around the paved enclosed former farmyard.

The cottages are single storey with no internal steps. They have shallow 4” (10cm) steps to the wide front doors. Internal doors are also wider than standard with double doors to the shower room/wc.

The Byre is the more spacious cottage and is the only one we would recommend for wheelchair access. A ramp is available to ease access over the threshold. The shower room double doors allow access with a wheelchair where desired. There is one shallow 4” (10cm) step into the shower. Safety grab handles are available for use in the shower room/wc if required. A shower seat is available on request prior to your stay.

The private car parking area is level and drop off is possible outside the cottage doors for transfer of passengers and/or luggage before parking in the designated space(s) nearby.

We live adjacent to the cottages and are pleased to discuss all access requirements prior to booking and to assist where practicable during your stay.

There are two patios for use of cottage guests. The one adjacent to The Byre is accessible for wheelchair users.

Pre-Arrival

• We use email, telephone, letter and fax as our main forms of communication with guests. Our web site is clearly set out and has a link to this statement.
• Information on our facilities for less mobile guests and this Access Statement can be sent by post to enquirers. We hope to discuss requirements with all guests prior to booking/arrival to ensure that we can meet their needs.
• A number of bus services stop on the A49 less than half a mile down Long Lane. We will be pleased to supply further contact details for any accessibility and timetable questions you may have and leaflets are available in each cottage.
• There are main line train services on the Manchester to South Wales route in Craven Arms (1 mile away) with access without steps to the platforms. This is also the Holyhead to Cardiff line.
• We are able to offer a free collection service to guests, by arrangement, from Craven Arms station.
