The first thing you notice about Penhalt Farm Campsite is the sense of open space and clean fresh air. Situated on the Coastal Downs, a mile South of Widemouth Bay, Penhalt Farm has commanding views of the magnificent Atlantic coastline and the beautiful surrounding countryside.
Penhalt Farm is a working farm and usually has nesting house-martins and swallows. The Holiday Park stands on an eight acre site well equipped for touring caravanners or campers.
Our aim here at Penhalt Farm is that you should enjoy a happy, peaceful and carefree holiday, using Penhalt Farm as a base to explore this beautiful corner of the South West.
ACCESS DETAILS
Penhalt Farm Holiday Park is adjacent to the working farm. The site is located three quarters of a mile from the coast road and the tarmac farm lane leading to the site is on a gentle slope and is restricted to a 10 mph speed limit which also applies all around the site.
The top half of the site is flat and the lower half gently slopes towards the coast. The whole site overlooks Widemouth Bay and surrounding countryside.
The Park in general is suitable for wheelchair users but there are some restrictions.
Restrictions:
1) Reception/shop is only accessible by two steps. The first 60mm and the second 140mm high risers
2) Laundry room 150mm step
Caravans:
The static caravan is accessed by steps and the doors are not wide enough to take wheelchairs.
Touring and Camping:
Penhalt has 100 touring pitches, 25 of those with electric hook ups. The top half of the site is flat and the area immediately surrounding Reception and amenities block is tarmac and good for wheelchair users.
Guide dogs are welcome on site and there is a designated dog walking area provided.
Facilities:
There are ladies and gents showers, games room with two pool tables, laundry room and shop but they have the restrictions as above. There is also a disabled toilet and baby changing room, next to the laundry, accessed by a slight slope.
There are also some sinks available outside the laundry room, on the end of the amenity block, which are readily accessible for wheelchair users.
The swings and play area are beside the amenity block and have level access.
All rubbish areas and water points are easily accessible via level access.
Access to the farm is over a stony uneven yard.
Whenever it is possible we try to provide our customers, when asked, with pitches that are the most convenient for them.
The Local Area:
No bus service runs from the site but there is a bus stop 1-mile away which serves Bude and the surrounding areas. However, it is fair to say, that this stop is only accessed by both a steep downhill and uphill coast road from Penhalt Farm.
Taxis are available from Bude, of which some cater for wheelchairs.
