With a long and rich history of papermaking, the Esk Valley was once home to ten mills, renowned for the production of fine papers made from Esparto grass imported from Africa. The era of papermaking ended with the closure of the last mill on the Esk, which ceased production in 2004.
With interior design conceived and developed by Jim Hamilton Design and distinctive branding and signage designed by Edinburgh-based creative agency Touch, The Paper Mill is a striking, yet informal destination sympathetic to the village’s historical surroundings. Reclaimed materials, screenprinted artworks and found objects add to this laid-back feel, while a spacious outdoor terrace leads down to the riverbank.
At The Paper Mill you don't need an excuse to enjoy yourself, but if you have one then we would be happy to oblige! We can host small groups or larger get togethers, whatever the occasion, and will help you celebrate in style

They have disabled parking and couple of step to manage at entrance. Inside the restaurateur enough space to move around in wheelchair. The menu is simple and straightforward. Food is very tasty and well worth the money.
