A community pub and restaurant, The Dean Tavern capably serves the residents and guests of Newtongrange in Midlothian. Established in 1899, our pub is the only true remaining Gothenburg in Scotland. That means the profits of our establishment are distributed to support, sustain, and develop local community groups and not-for-profit associations.
We are pleased to offer a wide range of draught beers and ciders, including Tennent's Lager™, Belhaven Best™, Samuel Smith's Old Brewery Bitter™, Tennent's Special™, Guinness™, Strongbow Original™, and Heverlee™. An exhaustive range of spirits is also available, including many fine malt whiskies. Debit and credit card payments are happily accepted.
In 2015 and 2016 we were recognised as the Best Place for a Pint in Midlothian by the Midlothian Food and Drink Awards

Restaurant – Function Hall – Main Bar all have individual accessible entrances. Main Bar doors are big and heavy if not open require a bit of negotiation. tables were a good height for wheel chair use. There is toilet off the the bar area which allowed for wheelchair. Had a meal this week with my family, was excellent. It’s so good to have somewhere nice to go in the village for something great to eat. Presentation and service was excellent.
