We purchased the transformed mansion in 1996 from its former owners the Toronto Ladies' Club and over the years we have restored and transformed this gracious property into what has become a favourite destination in the Annex and Bloor and Bedford area . Our goal and mandate over the years has been to "resist the ordinary" and provide our customers with a casual, friendly and eclectic environment. Our goal is to deliver more than we promise and provide service and food with a twist as we strive to be a little different in what we offer in our gastropub fair.
The Academy is not only a pub, a bistro and a bar; it combines a little of all of these so there is something for everyone. The reason why both of our locals, the "Bedford Academy" and the "bar Wellington", have become such popular destinations is our people. They are service inspired, good people that share in our level of commitment to professionalism and they are fundamental to us making your visit a success.
The Bedford Academy "pub-bistro-bar" has been the favourite destination for the famous and not so famous. Movie stars filming in Toronto, musicians and regular folks have all made it home, which is part of what makes the "Academy" such a special place.

Read All ReviewsThere was a ramp at the side of the building that lead into the 3- story pub and an elevator inside that accessed all floors. Main floor is clear of obstructions and there are no level changes. Decent atmosphere and friendly but slow service, both inside and on the patio. The beer is reasonably priced though hardly cheap. The food is mediocre and somewhat expensive.
