Enjoy our 200 foot wide beach and shady picnic area has lounge chairs, hammocks, chickee huts, barbecue grills, and picnic tables. It’s a great place to have your morning coffee, do yoga or tai chi, sunbathe, relax with a good book, or check your e-mail. The 1950s boat ramp provides shallow access with a sandy bottom for your canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, windsurfers, and water toys. Larger boats can launch at public or neighborhood ramps and tie up off the end of our dock.
The Clear Gulf Waters is great for swimming, floating, and snorkeling. You can see fish, sponges, crabs, shells, starfish, and an occasional manatee or dolphin. The pier and deck on the water is the best place to watch for panoramic sunsets and the elusive green flash. Bring bread to feed the seagulls and fish. Mature native trees and flowers provide garden areas for birds and butterflies. Over 100 coconut palms shade the property with a shuffleboard court and basketball hoop. Other outdoor game equipment is available for your use.
Rooms
Popp’s Motel offers 4 suites and 5 studios. Each room is individually designed in color, furnishings, and theme. The layout for the suites is a combined kitchen and living room area in the front with a separate bedroom and a full bath in the back. Each living room has a fold out couch. All bedrooms have a queen bed in the suites. They can sleep a maximum of four people. The studios have either 2 double beds or one queen bed, a galley kitchen, and a shower in the bath. The waterfront honeymoon or executive studio has a similar layout with a king bed. The studios can sleep a couple or two friends comfortably. All rooms have television, air conditioning, and a complete kitchen with appliances, dishware, glassware, pots and pans, and flatware. Many winter seasonal guests and weekend returning guests have their favorite room.
All rooms are located down the south side of the property with the beach area on the west bayside. The office and family home are on the north side of the two acre property. A “U” shaped driveway connects the sides and provides adequate parking space for boats and trailers and creates a breezeway. Guest vehicle parking is just outside their room.
Our property is ideally located in a residential area with Harriette’s restaurant within easy walking distance for breakfast or lunch. We offer all guests the privacy and peacefulness of a small resort. Daily housekeeping services and supplies are provided. Our staff and family will assist you with expertise and courtesy.
