Castle Terrace Restaurant opened its doors on 14th July 2010 to introduce a new dining experience to the city of Edinburgh. Combining the culinary expertise and flair of the team behind award-winning Michelin star restaurant The Kitchin, Castle Terrace Restaurant is led by Edinburgh-born Dominic Jack. Nestled underneath Edinburgh Castle, the stylish award-winning restaurant offers a truly unique fine dining experience with a menu created from Chef Patron Dominic Jack’s modern and innovative cooking skills.
Castle Terrace presents modern British cuisine influenced by learned French cooking techniques and an appreciation of the best ingredients available from Scotland’s outstanding natural larder. The well-balanced and exciting menus reflect Dominic’s many years of training in some of Europe’s top Michelin star kitchens - such as l’Arpège, restaurant Les Elysées and Taillevent in Paris, where he spent many years working as sous chef for Michelin 3-star chef Alain Solivérès. Castle Terrace is a true representation of the finest and freshest seasonal Scottish ingredients and offers elegant and wonderfully balanced dishes, all prepared with a delicate flair and passion.
The restaurant’s philosophy - From Nature to Plate - is exactly the same as its sister restaurant The Kitchin. Dominic Jack and fellow chef proprietor of The Kitchin, Tom Kitchin, met as young chefs in Gleneagles and have since taken similar career paths , influencing and encouraging one another over the years.
Castle Terrace Restaurant is fresh, modern, stylish and bright and the ambience of the restaurant is welcoming but relaxed. Simple and uncluttered with beautiful detail, neutral tones are blended with bright flashes of warm colour. The newly refurbished dining room which features a hand drawn impressive mural of Edinburgh Castle is displaying royal Georgian blue paintwork throughout and soft furnishings by Bute Fabrics. Castle Terrace Restaurant clearly displays a lush ambience with a blend of rustic glamour while keeping true to its Georgian townhouse roots. The open plan state of the art kitchen now features a chef's table and an impressive wine cellar.

There are parking space at street for blue badge holders. The entrance is leveled but the doors are very heavy. The staff came to rescue when they found I was struggling to open the doors and welcomed me in. There are disabled toilets. Food was good as well
