Description
Caalm Camping in Dorset is home to 6 accessible yurts, an alternative holiday experience.
A Yurt is a traditional portable house made out of a lattice of bent wood, and they are used by nomads in central Asia and Mongolia. They are also fantastic for glamping holidays in Dorset!
We have six of them, all named after wild flowers, hand-crafted in Mongolia and brightly painted in the traditional style. The Yurt is considered to be the herder’s most important possession. From the outside they may look small, but do not be deceived – they can easily accommodate up to six people!
We know some of you can’t bear to leave your gadgets at home, so we have thoughtfully provided electric sockets! Which means you also get electric lighting, and a single ring hob so you can brew up a cuppa or boil an egg or two.
We also provide:
Crisp white linen sheets and fluffy towels.
Free wood for your wood burning stove and the fire pit for the duration of your stay.
There is a seating area outside each yurt and barbecues are available at no extra charge.
The key to your own private shower room in the Old Haybarn (communal area), exclusively yours for the whole of your stay. Beautifully tiled, spacious and complete with underfloor heating, it has a spacious shower area, toilet, vanity units with cupboards and hand dryers.
Your own individual fridge in The Old Haybarn.
Use of a spacious modern kitchen with ovens, hobs and microwaves, fully equipped with pots, pans and utensils – perfect for preparing anything from tea & toast to a hearty breakfast.
Communal lounge and dining area in the The Old Haybarn with toys, games and TV.
Travel cots and highchairs can be provided on request for a small additional charge, but you will need to bring all your own cot linen.
What’s not provided:
Tea towels, washing up liquid, dish cloths, cot linen, toilet rolls and anything else you would normally have to bring on a UK camping holiday.

Additional Information
We are delighted to say that we can now offer glamping for people with disabilities.
Our site is level, with well-lit smooth paths, and we have ramps available so that wheelchair users can access the yurts. The traditional doorways are 132cm high by 67cm wide so please bear this in mind for your wheelchair access.
The interior of the yurts are all similar with a carpeted floor, a double bed and two single day beds. The beds have all got space under to accommodate a hoist. There is room to use a profiling bed, which may be hired in. There is ample wheelchair turning space throughout the yurt and plenty of access to either side of the double bed.
We have level access to all the communal areas and we can supply commode chairs for our private wet rooms, which all have adapted shower heads and extra long hoses.
All yurts have their own separate fridges in the communal kitchen, so that we can accommodate people with special dietary needs or allergies without fear of cross-contamination.
However, before you make a booking, please get in touch with us, as we would like to make absolutely sure that your individual needs are met during your stay!
Caalm Camp can also offer relaxing holistic treatments during your stay including reiki, crystal therapy, Indian head massage, reflexology, aromatherapy massage and Shamanic therapy. Each treatment is individually tailored to your requirements following a consultation where I will take a brief medical history. The treatments will take place in your Yurt, pre-booking and payment is essential.
