Description
Two delightful cottages on a small working farm in the beautiful Tamar Valley. Cottages tastefully decorated and fully wheelchair accessible with ensuite wetrooms. Perfectly situated for touring Cornwall and Devon. A short drive from Darmoor National Park and at one end of the scenic branchline to the maritime city of Plymouth. Plenty to do nearby. Only 25 minutes from the coast and not far from National trust properties.
Accessibility
We have two cottages both with very similar facilities. The surrounding countryside is beautiful but certain areas can be difficult in a wheelchair. I am confined to a wheelchair and understand completely the different levels of disability and how difficult it can be to find suitable accommodation. The cottages have been beautifully decorated making them a real home from home experience. We aim to provide accessible accommodation to all our guests and help provide any assistance that is needed.
PRE – ARRIVAL
We can be contacted via our website, telephone, fax or mobile.
The nearest train station Gunnislake is about one mile away.
The nearest bus stop is half a mile away but bus time table must be checked.
ARRIVAL AND PARKING FACILITIES
There is level parking right outside the front door of the cottages with room for up to four cars. More parking spaces are available around the back of the cottages if needed.
MAIN ENTRANCE AND GROUND FLOOR AREAS
There is a smooth wide path at the front of the cottages and surrounding areas leading to the front doors.
Door ways are all level access and 820mm wide with low level door handles.
All light switches and sockets are at a suitable level.
Dining tables are easy to access from a wheelchair.
Sinks and ovens are at accessible heights with spaces under them.
Lounge furniture is not too low and can be raised up if necessary.
BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS
Beds can be made up either as doubles or twin beds.
They are all 550mm high and can be raised if necessary.
We have a mobile hoist, shower chair, bed wedges (a safe form of cot sides) and large foam back supports all available for hire.
All wet rooms are en-suite and have grab rails surrounding the toilet.
There are two different height raised toilet seats available.
There is a fold down seat in the shower.
The transfer space to the toilet is limited to 78cm in the hayloft because of the fold down shower seat.
Vanity basins have spaces under them for wheelchairs with a shelf area.
Access to the first floor is by a flight of stairs with a landing in between.
LAUNDRY
Each cottage is equipped with a washer/dryer which is easily accessible in the kitchen.

Accessible Level parking right outside the front door of the cottages. The Hayloft Cottage was warm and comfortable with lots of room a huge double bed, twin beds and three bathrooms. My room had an electric bed that we could raise to quite a height which made it easier for me to get in and out. If you need disabled facilities the Hayloft has a downstairs bedroom with profiling bed and accessible shower room with roll in shower. Also shower chair is available to hire. There are two more bedroom upstairs each with an ensuite bathroom. I can’t recommend this place enough! We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be visiting again!
