The Rijksmuseum van Oudheden is the national archaeological museum of the Netherlands. It is located in Leiden. The Museum grew out of the collection of Leiden University and still closely co-operates with its Faculty of Archaeology
Opening hours
- Tuesdays to Sundays: 10.00 - 17.00
- During all school holidays also open on Mondays: 10.00 - 17.00
- The museum will be open on: Easter, 5 May, Ascension Day, Whitsun, Boxing Day (26 December) and 31 December (open until 16.00)
- Closed on: 27 April, 3 October, 25 December and 1 January

Photographs in the museum
- It is allowed (without flash and tripod) to take photographs in the museum.
Wheelchairs and partially sighted persons
- At the reception desk, you can request a wheelchair. For the use of it, we ask a € 2 deposit. When returning the chair you get this refunded. For all wheelchairs a companion is necessary.
- Wheelchair users: in front of the museum building, at the Rapenburg, there is one parking place for visitors holding an official parking license for the disabled. In the museum you can use an elevator.

You can get a wheelchair from reception desk, there is € 2 deposit for it which is refunded on return of wheelchair. For wheelchair user it is compulsory to have a companion. In front of the museum building there is one allotted parking spot for disabled badge holders. There is lift in the building so ease of access. There is free wifi inside the building. Photographs are allowed but without flash and tripods.
