Ormeau Park is the oldest municipal park in Belfast, Northern Ireland, having been officially opened to the public in 1871. It is owned and run by Belfast City Council and is one of the largest and busiest parks in the city and contains a variety of horticulture, woodland, wildlife and sporting facilities.
Ormeau Park is popular with walkers and joggers. There are eco trails, orienteering routes and a children's playground. Ormeau Park Playing Fields facilities include soccer pitches, two bowling greens and pavilions, a BMX track, basketball, tennis and netball courts. We have installed public access defibrillators for park users.

The park is also a popular venue for sport, with a range of facilities, including bowling greens and pavilions, tennis courts and soccer pitches, located with Ormeau Park Playing Fields.
A number of events are held in the park each year, including concerts and band performances.
Park features include eco trails and orienteering courses, horticultural displays, a children’s playground, seasonal bedding and specimen trees.
Ormeau Park playing fields contain soccer pitches, two bowling greens, basketball and netball courts and tennis courts.
The bowling greens are open 11:00-16:00, Monday to Friday (winter) and 11:00-21:00, Monday to Saturday (summer). The pitches are open from dusk to dawn.
Mobility scooters
The park has electric mobility scooters for use by Shopmobility members. The scooters are free to use by Shopmobility members. You must show your membership card before hiring a scooter. The park has horticultural displays, woodland and wildlife.
We run a Saturday Club as part of our 'Watch This Space' scheme on alternate Saturdays in the park's bowling pavilion.
Park Road Playground Improvement
Park Road Playground in Ormeau Park will be temporarily closed from Wednesday 6 October to undergo a transformation as part of our Playground Improvement Programme.
The playground will be fitted with new top of the range equipment that children of all ages and abilities will be able to enjoy.
While work continues through the autumn and winter the access gates into Ormeau Park on Park Road will remain closed for the safety of users. Visitors to Ormeau Park are encouraged to use the entrances to Ormeau Park on the Ormeau Road and Ravenhill Road.
Park opening times
Parks open at 7.30am every day. Closing times change as daylight lengthens or shortens.
