Matchetts Music is proud to be one of the few remaining independent, family-run businesses in Belfast city centre, celebrating its 80th year in 2016. We sell everything from guitars to drums, violins, trumpets, banjos, cajons, pianos, keyboards and much much more.
They are stockists of all major brands of musical instruments and equipment. We stock drums, guitars, amps, fx, pianos, keyboards, banjos, ukuleles, violins, trumpets, sheet music, accessories and the rest!
The original music store was established by Mr Stanley Matchett in 1936 at 44 Wellington Place. During the 1970s, the building was bombed at the height of the troubles in Northern Ireland.
Matchetts Musical Instruments was then purchased in 1979 by Derek and Ann Crowther who, along with son Neil and daughter Tamara, remain company directors and owners.
At Matchetts, we understand that learning to play a musical instrument can be expensive, particularly when you’re just trying it out for the first time. We offer instrument rental for a wide range of instruments to help you or a child get started.
Imagine the feeling of picking up a sax or a trumpet and playing anything you want, just how you like. How fantastic would that be? Basically, that’s why people play. Because of the way it makes them feel.
