Kodachrome Basin State Park Kodachrome Basin State Park, Cannonville, UT 84718, United States

Kodachrome Basin is a state park of Utah, United States. It is situated 5,800 feet above sea level, 12 miles south of Utah Route 12, and 20 miles southeast of Bryce Canyon National Park.

The scenery is splashy here, dominated by 67 monolithic stone spires called sedimentary pipes. They accentuate multi-hued sandstone layers revealing 180 million years of geologic time. The color and beauty found here prompted a 1948 National Geographic Society expedition to name the area Kodachrome after the popular color film

This Utah state park boasts sweeping desert views with sandstone chimneys rising up from the earth. There’s also a wheelchair-accessible trail, and a drop dead gorgeous scenic drive. And if you want to overnight under the stars, there’s a wheelchair-accessible campsite with a raised tent platform, near a shower house with a roll-in shower in the Basin Campground. Enjoy the dark night sky in this remote campground.

This park is particularly popular during spring and fall, when temperatures are moderate. A concessionaire offers horseback rides and other activities and services.
Grosvenor Arch is located nearby.
