Introduction / Description
Simple rooms & cabins in a log cabin-style lodge offering a restaurant, a grill & a cozy lounge.
Completed in 1999, the Snow Lodge is the newest of the park’s full service hotels, and has been recognized with the Cody Award for Western Design and Travel and Leisure’s Inn of the Month. The heavy timber construction, exterior log columns and cedar shingle roof were part of the design that is destined to make the Snow Lodge a significant example of classic “parkitecture.” The Snow Lodge also features a full-service dining room, quick service “Geyser Grill” and the charming Bear Den Gift Store.
If the name if not enough of a clue, the Snow Lodge seems to be at its best in winter. Fireplaces in the lobby and between the bar and dining room are magnets for chatty gatherings of friends and family. The lobby areas always seem to have unfinished puzzles begging for attention, and ample space for board games. The gift shop makes for great browsing, and also houses the Bear Den Ski Shop where cross country ski and snowshoe rentals, lessons, and tours are available. A range of tours and skier shuttles depart daily from the Snow Lodge, providing access to places like the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Mammoth Hot Springs, Firehole Canyon, and the Lone Star Geyser trail. But who needs a shuttle when you can also access ski and snowshoe trails out the door. If that’s not enough, an outdoor skating rink with free skate rentals is just outside the lobby.
