The new Westcroft Library in Milton Keynes is being built to replace the existing Westcroft Library, and is going to be located 200m from the original building. This is being undertaken as part of the Scape National Minor Works framework which was designed to deliver single construction projects up to a value of £4m, and larger programmes of work.. The new library is a traditional build covering and area of 225m²; with a brick exterior, block interior and a pitched roof. The library has been designed so that it blends in with the surrounding buildings in Westcroft District Council Development area. Once the library is completed it will offer improved services such as easy access to information, reading, imagination and learning. The new library will help to enhance the lives of the local citizens and will be the knowledge hub of the Westcroft community.
Milton Keynes has a detailed plan to develop across the town, with housing, shopping and educational projects taking place throughout. Westcroft Library is one of three libraries being redeveloped in Milton Keynes, including Milton Keynes Central Library and Bletchley Library. Westcroft Library has been moved to reduce long term costs, as the land that the new Westcroft Library is being built on is land which is owned by Milton Keynes Council. Whereas the current Westcroft Library is located in rented space, so saving on rent, as well as releasing the current units to other businesses, who wish to have a presence in the very popular retail centre.
Open 5 days a week: 10am-4pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am-12noon on Saturday.
