Polaria is the world's most northerly aquarium. It is located in Tromsø, in northern Norway. Rather than a mainly scientific aquarium such as the one in Bergen in the Norwegian midlands, Polaria, which opened in May 1998, is designed to be an educational experience, with particular emphasis on displays for children.

Polaria is a journey of discovery for the whole family. If you are curious about how animals, people, fish and plants are living together side by side, Polaria is the perfect place to meet and understand life in the Arctic.
Here you experience seals, catfish and tiny sharks up close, and get to feel and feel different species moving crisscrossed along the seabed.
The seal pool and aquarium
We have four playful seals living in our seal pool. They train several times a day. In the aquarium section you will find most of the fish species and shellfish in our polar regions, along with the Arctic Flora (plant life) under the water.
Join the selfie and exercise every day at 10:00. 10:30 a.m., 12:30 and 3:30 p.m.
The Panoramic Cinema
Our unique Panoramic cinema shows films of some of the most spectacular phenomenas in the wild north. Before and after the cinema visit, you can learn more about the Arctic in our exhibitions.
Exhibitions
Polaria is a showcase for polar research from the FRAM centre next door. Through our exhibitions you will get insight into what kind of man-made challenges our region is facing and why changes in the climate and emissions of contaminants in the wild have such significant consequences for animal and plant life.
Café and Gift Shop
After a day of new adventures, enjoy a cup of coffee and a snack in our café on the second floor. And don't forget to visit our amazing gift shop with merchandise of good craftsmanship and high quality.
Parking
Polaria is within walking distance from the parking lots in the city centre, and has its own parking area in front of the building.
