Aquarium Trégastel Aquarium Trégastel, 37 Boulevard du Coz-Pors, 22730 Trégastel, France

Unique aquarium with indoor exhibits & underground displays in passages of pink granite caves.

In an exceptional and unique site, the Aquarium Marin de Trégastel nestles in the caves of pink rocks.

In turn, a chapel, a munitions depot during the war, a home, a prehistoric museum, the Marine Aquarium amazes the visitor who walks through the maze of impressive natural blocks of pink granite. At the end of the visit, access to the top of the site, at the foot of the "Eternal Father", offers a splendid panoramic view of the Côte de Granit Rose.

  • A unique site:  The granite roof of the first cave weighs some 5,500 tonnes.
  • A natural habitat:  The animals find at the Aquarium a living environment similar to their original environment.
  • Local fauna:  The colorful and diversified atmosphere of each basin sets the pace for your visit.
  • The Breton lobster:  Emblem of the Breton coast, it is also Loutig, the Aquarium mascot.
  • On the Loup ! Take the time to discover the species that make up our nursery.
  • The phenomenon of tides:  An interactive terminal allows a simple understanding of the phenomenon of tides.

Located above the highest spring tides, the Embruns Zone is an area hostile to animals and plants.

Only a few well-adapted species have tamed the extreme living conditions: rain, wind, salt do not allow any land plant to live there. It is the zone of lichens, living beings halfway between algae and fungi, and the zone of mobile animals such as the blue littorine and the ligie.

This open-air visit area in the granite chaos allows young and old to get to know the first aquarium animals in the outdoor pool. Seaside plants visible in the seascape enhance the visit.

The tidal swing zone (the foreshore ) is extremely rich in animal and plant life despite the ebb and flow that flood and overflow (uncover) twice a day. To survive here, it is necessary to find clever coping methods; only nature could imagine these subterfuges.

In the pink granite caves, you can observe the emblematic fauna of the Channel in modern aquariums : sea bream, sea bass, seahorses, lobsters, scallops, abalone….

The last step in exploring the Breton seabed, the Depth Zone . Living beings are no longer here under the influence of the tides but they must face another equally vital problem: the lack of light! It is the kingdom of invertebrates (anemones, sponges, alcyons, gorgons) and large fish (fruit bat, emissoles, rays, conger eels).

You will observe this fascinating and surprising life in several pools of modern architecture, including the large 50,000-liter water tank !

Aquarium team members have loads of tasks to complete every day. From feeding the species to maintaining the tanks, it is also common to find them in the nursery, where newborns are stored and need to be taken care of on a daily basis!

The team of animal handlers is also trained in environmental animation and will regularly offer you walks by the sea , to discover all the secrets of the Pink Granite Coast.

The staff at the reception of the establishment is finally trained in the reception of groups of adults but also of children; you will thus be able to benefit, by reservation, from an adapted guided tour.
