Introduction / Description

21c enlisted architecture and interiors firm Deborah Berke Partners to reimagine the 100-year old Metropole Hotel, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as a contemporary art museum, boutique hotel, and restaurant and bar. The design team worked to restore the character of this once-grand hotel while creating a modern, forward-thinking space to showcase the work of today’s artists.

The 156 spacious guest rooms are filled with custom furnishings that lend a decidedly residential feel, providing a comfortable respite from the thought-provoking art and nonstop energy that fills the museum galleries.

This hotel, also home to a contemporary art museum, is across the street from the Aronoff Center for the Arts, adjacent to the Contemporary Arts Center and an 8-minute walk from the Duke Energy Convention Center.

Chic rooms feature original artwork, free WiFi, flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, premium linens and coffeemakers. Suites add wet rooms with double vanities, sitting and/or dining areas.

On-site art galleries are open 24/7. There's also a gift shop, a spa and a 24-hour gym. An art-filled eatery offers dishes prepared using a custom-built wood-burning fireplace, and a rooftop cocktail terrace has views of the city skyline.

All guest rooms include:

  • Free Wi-Fi
  • 42″ HDTV flat screen television
  • Alarm Clock/Docking Station
  • Malin+Goetz Bath Amenities
  • Luxurious Bedding
  • Custom tile crafted by Cincinnati-based Rookwood Pottery Company
  • Original Artwork by Laura Lee Brown

Accessibility

  • This property is accessible but it is not wheelchair friendly, so I would Avoid this hotel.
  • This is a beautiful, modern hotel and it is accessible but there are a couple steps and a small hydraulic lift.
  • There is 1 step at entrance (curb) and another step on 3rd floor before you get to the accessible rooms – so don’t book a 3rd floor room. It seems rather foolish to have a step on a floor with wheelchair accessible rooms – but they do.
  • To access the 2nd floor gallery on the other side of the building, there are a couple steps. They have installed a small hydraulic lift which requires a key from the front desk.
  • All other areas of the hotel are wheelchair accessible.
