Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is a national park along the Pembrokeshire coast in west Wales. It was established as a National Park in 1952, and is the only one in the United Kingdom to have been designated primarily because of its spectacular coastline.
The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is a special place and needs careful management to look after it for everyone to enjoy, now and in the future. At the National Park Authority we’re charged with keeping the Park special.
Access for All
There are a range of routes and destinations in the National Park that are suitable for wheelchair users.
Our Walks for All Guide promotes 15 routes across the National Park. The walks are designed to provide sufficient information in order for people to decide for themselves if a route is suitable, depending on their own needs and abilities.
The walks are intended for people who use mobility scooters, manual or powered wheelchairs and for people who have limited walking ability. The walks can therefore be enjoyed by family groups with toddlers and pushchairs as well as people with mobility problems and wheelchair users.
In general, people can expect reasonably level routes with no steep gradients or steps and information relating to the condition of path surfaces.
In addition, our Wheelchair Walks provide information on 21 routes that are categorised as being suitable for wheelchairs in our promoted walks selection.
Easy Access Beaches provides a list of locations and detailed information on the standard of accessibility of 18 beaches in the National Park. Some beaches have specially designed Beach Wheelchairs for hire, which are suitable for use on sandy beaches.
Easy Access Viewpoints lists 36 locations in the National Park that can all be reached by car and have a lay-by or parking to enjoy the spectacular views of the coast and countryside of the National Park.
Mobility Scooters are also provided by the National Park Authority at a number of attractions and visitor centres.
