Introduction / Description
The Canada Science and Technology Museum is located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on St. Laurent Boulevard, to the south of the Queensway. The role of the museum is to help the public to understand the technological and scientific history of Canada and the ongoing relationships between science, technology and Canadian society.
Arrival & Car Parking
The museum is open on statutory holidays except December 25.
Canada has a rich history of scientific and technological achievements, so we have a lot to show you! Please allow between two and four hours for a reasonably complete tour of the museum – there’s so much to see and do. The Scientique Boutique is open during regular museum hours.
Visitor drop off and pick up is allowed at the main entrance to the museum.
The museum offers paid parking. Please note that the ticketing system uses your vehicle’s licence plate number; be sure to note it before leaving your car to pay. You do not need to return to your vehicle after making payment; your vehicle plates are tracked.
There are several designated parking spots for expectant mothers near the museum’s main entrance.

GETTING AROUND
Wheelchairs can be borrowed free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. To sign out a wheelchair, please visit our admissions desk.
The Canada Science and Technology Museum features level flooring throughout, with the exception of the Steam: A World in Motion exhibition and the Sound by Design exhibition, which are accessible via a ramp.
In the From Earth to Us exhibition, a public viewing area is accessible via an elevator.
Seating is available in all areas of the museum. Each seating area includes seats with arm and back supports.
AUDITORIUM AND DEMO STAGE
Both the Auditorium and the Demo Stage feature seating for visitors using wheelchairs, as well as seats with arm and back supports.
Visitors with hearing impairments can borrow neck loops at the admission desk.
SUPPORT PERSONS
The Canada Science and Technology Museum offers free admission to one support person accompanying a person with disabilities.
SERVICE ANIMALS
Service animals, such as guide dogs and hearing dogs, are welcome in the Canada Science and Technology Museum.
WASHROOMS
Washrooms are located: in the main entrance of the museum; across from the cafeteria; and at the back of the museum (through the From Earth to Us exhibition).
In addition, there is a separate gender-neutral/universal washroom, equipped with an adult-sized change table and a motorized lift, located across from the cafeteria.
BABY CARE AND NURSING
Washrooms throughout the museum feature diaper-changing tables.
A baby care and nursing room is available to patrons within the ZOOOM – Children’s Innovation Zone.
Breastfeeding is welcome in all locations in the Canada Science and Technology Museum.
ASSISTIVE LISTENING AND VOLUME CONTROLS
The Auditorium and the Demo Stage are equipped with an assistive listening system to assist visitors with hearing loss. Visitors with hearing impairments can borrow a neck loop from the admission desk for use in the Auditorium and the Demo Stage.
Exhibits that include a sound component feature volume controls and headphone jacks. The museum does not provide headphones.
SENSORY CONCERNS
Light, noise, and crowds will vary throughout the Canada Science and Technology Museum.
At peak times, the museum will be noisy; visitors may consider bringing noise-reducing headphones.
Dining / Cafeteria
Start your day off right at the museum’s café, with your choice of hot breakfast plates, fresh pastries, and delicious grab-and-go options.
Throughout the day, the café features a range of hot and cold beverages, customizable salads and sandwiches, seasonal soups, family favourites, and weekly entrée specials.
The café is open during regular museum hours of operation and is conveniently located down the hall from the museum’s main entrance.

While engaging, educational exhibitions are the main attraction, visitors to the Canada Science and Technology Museum will also enjoy the modern, spacious feel of this 80,000 sq. ft. space.
All museum exhibitions and indoor programs are completely accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. Courtesy wheelchairs are available at the Admission desk.
Washrooms – all equipped with diaper-changing facilities – are available throughout the museum (see the museum floor plan for specific locations).
