What is a Cock Horse (kok'hôrs')? “A horse added to a team of horses to assist a wagon through high water or over difficult terrain”
Based at the top of Church Street, it is thought that Lavenhams very own Cock Horse was stabled opposite the Church of St Peter and St Paul and assisted those in need by hauling up goods to the top of the hill and then sending the rest of the ponies and their owners on their way to the next village.
