The Ava can be found opposite Bangor’s Post Office and local Bus and Rail Station on Main Street. The complex is home to the Bistro, Winebar and Pit after a complete refurbishment and ownership change in April 2016. The building dates back to 1840, originally built as housing, later turned hotel, and then of course, a restaurant and bar.
Basement Level: The Pit, public bar is situated in the basement and is one of the oldest licensed premises in Bangor. The interior resembles a traditional pub and the regulars have become live in furniture with a strong connection to the bar itself and the people who work there, giving the place a real sense of community. The bar serves up karaoke every Friday and live music every Saturday, with Brenda and the team at the helm.
Ground Floor: The Ava Winebar & Wine Terrace is located on the ground floor. The restaurant offers tasty food and mouth watering cocktails, all delivered with a five star level of friendly service. The Winebar is ultra modern with a duck egg blue and gold decor, snag a booth, lay back on a sofa or pull up a stool, as long as you relax! Dine inside or out, The Wine Terrace awaits!
First Floor: You can find The Ava Bistro on the first floor, make your way through The Wine Terrace to the doors under the big blue awning and follow the staircase in front of you.
