YHA Whangarei is a traditional kiwi-style holiday park accommodation set amongst tree-lined gardens. Located a short two-minute walk from the beautiful Whangarei Falls Scenic Reserve, this cosy backpackers provides an ideal base for exploring all the Whangarei District has to offer.
There are a variety of room options available including 10- or 4-bed dorms as well as private cabins with or without kitchenettes. Shared facilities such as a bathroom and kitchen block are a few strides away from the dorms and kitchenette cabins. Families are welcome. Children love the on-site pool and the nearby Aqua Centre.
The hostel is within easy walking distance of the A.H.Reed Memorial Kauri Park, the Parihaka Scenic Reserve, and the Abbey Caves, home to thousands of glow worms. Snorkelling, kayaking and diving at Poor Knights Islands can be booked through the hostel office daily.
After a fun day of exploring, harvest some herbs from the hostel garden and treat yourself to a BBQ on the communal grill. Finish off the day with a dip in the swimming pool or a relaxing soak in the hot tub.
