Top of the Rock Observation Deck is one of New York City’s biggest attractions. Located in the heart of Rockefeller Center, it not only has the most breathtaking views in the city, but is also surrounded by the best shopping, dining, and entertainment in Midtown. Here, you’ll find tickets and tips to help you start planning your trip.
Entrances
The main entrance to Top of the Rock is located on 50th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Look for the big red carpet marking the entrance on the south side of the street. A second entrance is located on the Concourse level of 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
Security Checkpoints
There is a security checkpoint for all visitors. Be mindful of the belongings you choose to bring with you. No weapons of any kind (this includes, but is not limited to: knives of any kind, including pen knives, small pocket knives, Swiss army knives, switchblades, lighters, glass bottles, and flammable substances). Food and beverages are also not permitted.
Timed Ticketing
Top of the Rock operates on a timed ticketing system. When purchasing your ticket online or at the Box Office, you can select the time and date that works best for you. Not sure when you want to go yet? Unscheduled tickets are also available. However, unscheduled tickets must be exchanged for timed tickets at the Box Office prior to entry. Immediate entry is not guaranteed and available times may be limited.
Three Decks
There are three levels of observation decks to explore at Top of the Rock. The first deck includes the Radiance Wall and our gift shop. The second, featuring the Breezeway, is entirely outdoors. The third observation deck, located on the 70th floor open-air roof deck, is completely outdoors and free of a glass enclosure, making it perfect for photos.
