Splash in water, operate real JCB’s in Earth, marvel at a tornado made of fire and even explode a rock face! Magna is a coats-on experience; set in the old Templeborough steelworks, The Big Melt and Face of Steel offer an exciting journey into the world of steelmaking.
Magna offers four pavilions focusing on Air, Earth, Fire & Water which house over 100 interactive exhibits facilitating learning through investigation and play. Our Big Melt show and Face of Steel also provide a historical journey to educate children about the regions steelmaking heritage.

PLAN YOUR VISIT
A typical day is organised around Discovery Time for your group to explore our four pavilions: Air, Earth, Fire and Water; our steel heritage: the Big Melt, Steelos Gallery and the Face of Steel; and our outdoor facilities. If you book any workshops they will also appear on your group's schedule, and we will timetable a half hour slot for your packed lunch. The Big Melt Show, Forge demonstration and use of our gift shop can be added to your schedule in advance, or you can organise when to see them on arrival at Magna.
Following your booking we will send you a confirmation letter, class schedules, an invoice and any other relevant information. An education resource pack is available to support your school's visit and this can be downloaded free from the Resources section, as well as a risk assessment and copy of Magna's public liability insurance.
On arrival we will meet and greet your group, bags and packed lunches are stored in locked cages, a quick health and safety briefing and you are ready to go.
