Eureka is a museum dedicated to inspire children (and everyone else who visits) to experience and learn through touch, experimentation and fun. On the day our researchers visited it was full to capacity of many families doing just that.
On arrival at Eureka our researchers were given a map which showed the various area's both up and downstairs which they could explore. There is a large accessible cafe and gift shop on the ground floor and disabled toilets on both floors but please note our researchers found the upstairs one to be quite small.
The different areas of learning are all very accessible and have a variety of exhibits in them, some interactive and some hands on. There was much to look at, touch and do.
The museum offer a service where you can book in advance and get a trained 'Eureka Enabler', who will dedicate 2 hours to you and your party and give you exciting suggestions and practical advice for making the most of your visit . This could be ideal for visitors who have disabled children or disabled group members and who they feel may not get the most out of the trip, just call Trizia Wells or Jenny Goodall on 01422 330069 to book you place.
Since our researchers visit the museum has added a ‘changing places’ washroom, see image no.7. The facility has a toilet offering both transfers, Robin tracking hoist with maximum load of 200 kg, height adjustable changing bed and washbasin and privacy screens. If you require changing facilities with an adult-sized bed guests are welcome to use the museums first aid room.
