It is this atmosphere and these flavours around which Little Singapore has based its offerings. One highlight is most certainly the seven different rotis or Singaporean bread dishes available. A version of the unleavened bread found in many cultures, roti is very much a comfort food and comes highly recommended.
While the food may be authentic, the setting is certainly not. Far from the bathroom tile-inspired decor of the average Singaporean hawker centre, Little Singapore bears a tasteful outfit. Tables and chairs are dark wood with white marble inlay, while plush cream banquettes line the dining hall where walls feature frescos depicting colonial Singapore life. This contrasts with the ridiculously abundant plasma televisions positioned throughout the restaurant. The reaction to the restaurant's opening has been impressive, with bookings required for weekday lunch; the hype, however is much deserved.
