Natureland is well known for rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned and injured seals that become stranded on Lincolnshire beaches.Visitors can see the various stages of their rehabilitation and hear about the rescue work at feeding times.
We’re not just seals! There are lots more beautiful and amazing animals.Watch the amusing antics of the penguins, be amazed by the tropical butterflies, squirm at the reptiles and creepy crawlies, feed the goats in the Pets Corner and marvel at the beautiful tropical fish in the Aquarium.
Natureland has been rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned and abandoned baby seals for over 50 years. Our adult seals along with the Seal Hospital and other resident animals such as Meerkats and Alpacas are a popular tourist attraction on Skegness Sea Front. Feeding times throughout the day will introduce you to some of our animals and also explain the rescue work we do with the wild seals.
The restaurant and gift shop are easy access single storey buildings.
Natureland is accessible
Pre Arrival
Natureland is situated at the northern end of the seafront in Skegness, about 15 minutes walk from the town centre. Maps are available on our website. Our Postcode is PE25 1DB. Natureland is accessible for wheelchair users, with ramped alternatives to stairs and disabled toilet facilities at either side of our site.
Skegness railway station is 1.5 miles away. A taxi rank is located at the station. Skegness bus station is next to the train station. Bus numbers 9 9A and 9B run up to and along the seafront every half hour and there are bus stops approximately 50m to one side and 100m to the other side of the Natureland entrance.

Parking
Natureland does not have a car park. A council run pay and display car park is 100m North of Natureland. There is limited on-road parking on the opposite side of the street outside Natureland.
Entry
There are no steps up to, outside or leaving the entrance. The main double doors are manual. Each is 1120mm wide and the door through to the animal enclosures is 1120mm wide. There is a tiled floor in the entrance. Once through the ‘in’ door Natureland is on two levels with the lower section accessed by slopes, with a 1:8 (approx) (12.5%) gradient, either side of the main seal pool.
Animals
All of the outside enclosures have walls inset with large windows to view the occupants. The main Sanctuary Bay seal pool has a raised platform with glass panels so wheelchair users can enjoy feeding times.
All buildings are ramped for easy access with concrete floors in the Tropical House and the Aquarium. At the end of the Crocodile Bridge in the Tropical House there are steps down to the exit and visitors must retrace their steps back to the entrance (about 30 feet). All of the exhibits can still be seen. Our building are heated to accommodate the animals so all doors are kept closed to retain the heat. However, chains are fitted to all doors and hooks on walls to hold the doors open temporarily for access.
Toilets
Disabled toilets are located in the restaurant and in the picnic area. There is a level access to both. The toilets have a light and easily managed door 930mm wide. Toilet height is 450mm, there is a vertical handrail adjacent to the toilet and hand washing basin and a horizontal rail on the side wall adjacent to the toilet. An emergency pull cord is easily reached from the toilet. The flooring is non-slip. There are lever taps on the sinks.
Catering
The restaurant has ramped access and is level throughout with tables widely spaced. The flooring is non-slip. Staff can help with questions on dietary restrictions. The restaurant is self-service but staff are happy to assist on request. During very busy times this assistance may be limited.
Grounds
The paths are paved or concreted and we have many benches around the park for visitors to take a little time out on. Our undercover picnic area has tables with fixed benching on either side but room for wheelchairs at the table ends.
A water bowl is outside the restaurant for our canine visitors.
