Both the Swanage Railway Trust and the Swanage Railway Company are determined that the Swanage Railway should offer the best possible facilities for the mobility impaired. All our trains accommodate wheelchairs.
To download The Swanage Railway's illustrated 4-page Trains & Stations Access Statement document in .pdf format, please click here. The document provides comprehensive information on all our facilities.
All Swanage Railway station platforms offer step-free access and Disabled access is available to most trains.
Wheelchairs are able to be carried in the Guard's Van on most services, and if the passenger has some mobility then they can sit in nearby passenger accommodation rather than travel in the Guard's Van. Our trains have corridor connections between the coaches.
A ramp is available to provide wheelchair access to trains, and our friendly platform staff and train crews will be happy to assist. Please note that our ramps have a safe weight limit of 230kg.
The nearest disabled toilet to Swanage station is located on the seafront (400 metres away), but ordinary toilet facilities are available at Swanage, Corfe Castle and Norden stations, and on most trains.
There are no toilet facilities at Harman's Cross or Herston station. Disabled toilets and baby-changing facilities are only available at Norden.
