Chain pizzeria where chefs in striped t-shirts toss handmade pizzas.
Based on Lendal Bridge and overlooking the River House in the heart of this historic city, York River House recently re-opened following a beautiful refurbishment. Drawing inspiration from the building’s history as a Victorian gentleman’s club, the overall design of the Italian restaurant has been carefully crafted to accentuate the original features of the stunning listed building. Striking new details include elegant settle seating and a beautiful new leather-clad meet and greet area - even the toilets have been carefully restored to reflect the building’s Victorian past. A combination of rich, bold paint colours throughout creates an atmosphere of warmth and sophistication. New floor lamps, neon fireplace flame lights and grand chandeliers create a subtle lighting scheme, complementing the listed oak panelling of the central dining rooms. An array of copper-accentuated features, including pendants and pot displays, also adorn our restaurant in York. Bespoke gold and timber-framed artwork is installed throughout, connected to the general theme of the building’s previous life as the York Club: the famed gentleman’s club.
We are proud to have a range of gluten-free food on our menu at our PizzaExpress restaurants, including risotto, sorbets and a pilsner. And we’ve gluten-free dough balls so now you can enjoy this signature dish at a restaurant near you. We also have Classic and Piccolo gluten-free pizza bases, so all of our recipes can now be enjoyed. In addition, any of our salads can be made gluten-free by removing dough sticks or croutons.
