Six Flags St. Louis is easy to get to from almost anywhere in the Midwest. Located just 30 miles southwest of downtown St. Louis, it's an easy drive on I-44 to Exit 261. Six Flags St. Louis, formerly Six Flags Over Mid-America, is a theme park located in Eureka, Missouri. The park opened on June 5, 1971 and features seven themed areas as well as numerous attractions and live shows.
At Six Flags, nothing is more important than your safety. It is our absolute highest priority.
Every day, before we open the parks to you and your family, all Six Flags rides and attractions are thoroughly inspected by highly skilled maintenance and operations staff. In addition to these inspections, we also run each ride numerous times, to ensure the ride is operating properly and ready for you to enjoy.
From time to time, a ride may stop before completing its normal cycle with guests on board. While it may look dangerous, and generate media interest, these controlled ride stops are proof that our ride safety systems are working exactly as they should. All of our rides are engineered to stop in a safe location.
All of our rides have hundreds of sensors constantly measuring and watching every aspect of the ride, similar to the sensors in your car that flash an alert if you’ve forgotten to buckle your seat belt or left one of your car doors open.
The difference is that while you can still drive your car with these alerts on, if a sensor on a ride sends an alert, the ride will automatically be brought to a stop.
Sensors may trigger the ride to safely stop for a variety of reasons – such as bad weather, obstructions or power interruptions.
Most of the time, the computerized system is quickly reset and after a thorough inspection, the ride is ready to resume normal operation. In some rare instances, we may need to escort guests from the ride if we cannot reset the sensor quickly. In the event this should happen, you can rest assured that Six Flags employees are trained to get you safely and efficiently off the ride. But remember, the chance of this happening is very low.
All Six Flags rides and attractions meet and exceed industry standards and all government regulations. We invest the greatest amount of resources into our safety programs. Our goal each day is to ensure that you and your family have a thrilling and safe time while visiting our parks.
Six Flags offers an Attraction Access Pass for guests who are unable to wait in ride lines due to a disability, mobility impairments, or certain qualifying impairments. Effective November 7, 2015 any guest requesting use of one of these special passes will need to provide a doctor’s note at Guest Services at the time they pick up the pass. This new program replaces our old Equal Access Pass program.
What is the Attraction Access Pass?
The Attraction Access Program allows qualified guests to access attractions through an alternate entrance without waiting in the regular ride queue. Upon arriving at the attraction entrance guests participating in the program will receive a ride reservation time comparable to the current wait time for the same ride/attraction. At the designated time the guest and up to three (3) riding companions can then enter the attraction through the alternate entrance and proceed directly to the ride boarding area. Guests using the Access Pass wait the same amount of time as other guests but they don't have to wait in the regular ride queue.
How to Obtain the Attraction Access Pass
To receive an Attraction Access Pass you must have a note from a doctor. You will only need this note the first time you request an Attraction Access Pass. Your doctor should include the following information:
Bring your note to the Ride Information Center (Guest Services) just inside the front gate of the park. A photo identification must presented at the time of issuance. For children under the age of 16, a student photo ID will be acceptable. If a child 12 or under does not have a photo ID, we will accept the parent's or guardian's ID.
You will only need to present your doctor's note the first time you visit a U.S. Six Flags theme park. We will notate in your file that you have qualified for the Attraction Access Pass for future visits to any U.S. Six Flags theme park.
Maximum Party Size
In an effort to provide equal treatment to all of our guests, only those guests with a disability or other qualifying impairment and up to three (3) riding companions will be allowed to access attractions through the alternate entrance. If the guest’s total party (including the guest with the Access Pass) is larger than four (4) guests, the other members of the party will be required to enter the ride or attraction through the standard queue.
How to Use the Attraction Access Pass
To use the Attraction Access Pass, the guest should proceed to the attraction’s alternate entrance and show the attraction attendant the Attraction Access Pass. The attraction attendant will document a reservation time that is comparable to the current wait time for the same ride/attraction. A guest using an Attraction Access Pass may rest in a comfortable location or enjoy other attractions in the area until the assigned reservation time has come or when the others from the guest’s party waiting in the standard queue reach the boarding platform. The guest, and up to three (3) riding companions, can then return to the attraction, using the alternate entrance, at the time of the reservation in order to ride. There is a 15 minute grace period for late arrivals.
Important Considerations
A guest with an Attraction Access Pass must ride in order for the guest’s companions to utilize the Attraction Access Pass to enter the attraction through the alternate entrance. If the guest with an Attraction Access Pass chooses not to ride, the guest’s companions must wait in the standard queue.
Attraction Access Passes are not designed to bypass or “skip” the standard queue and the wait will be equal to the posted wait times. Individuals found to be fraudulently using the Attraction Access Pass will be in violation of our Guest Code of Conduct and may be subject to civil penalties. Violators may also be asked to leave the Park without any refund.
Wheelchairs
For your convenience, wheelchair rentals are also available next to the lockers after the Entry Plaza. The fee for a standard wheelchair is $25 plus a $40 deposit, and an Electronically Controlled Vehicle (ECV) is $50.00 plus a $40 deposit. Because there are a limited number of wheelchairs and ECVs for rent, we suggest you bring your own and/or come early to ensure availability.
Guests may also use their own wheelchairs or ECV’s. If you need to take the rented wheelchair or ECV outside of the park, a Team Member escort is necessary to do so. Please ask for assistance at the park Exit. Battery recharging is also available at the Rental Center.
Service Animals
Trained service animals are welcome at our Six Flags Theme Parks.
Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals. Miniature horses that have been individually trained to do or perform tasks for people with disabilities will qualify as service animals.
Service animals must be house broken and remain on a leash or harness and under the control of their handler at all times. Owners are responsible for disposing of their animal’s waste. Guests whose service animal demonstrates aggressive and/or annoying actions toward a Guest or Team Member will be directed to remove the animal from the park.
Service animals are welcome in most locations of the park. Most of our rides are not equipped or designed for accessibility to service animals. Therefore, a member of your party must be available to stay with the animal while you ride. Service animals are allowed on the following rides: Tommy G Robertson Railroad, Colossus and the Grand Ole Carousel.
Guests may take advantage of our Kid Swap policy for staying with their service animal. However, park Team Members will not take responsibility for, or provide care to any service animal. Refer to the section on Kid Swap for more information.
Service Animal “Relief Areas” are located in the grassy areas outside of the Metal Detection location at the Front Gate, to the left of the Palace Arcade and next to the smoking area inside Hurricane Harbor (this location only available during waterpark operating hours). Owners are responsible for disposing of their animal’s waste. Please look for this designated sign.
