A cool cafe in a suburban strip in Hawthorne is turning heads with its coffee and baked goodies. The Counter is identifiable by its blue and white striped awning but it's remembered by the house-baked cakes, tarts and macaroons that are piled on the counter. Salads, sandwiches and savoury offerings round out the menu and are best enjoyed in the courtyard out back.
